Zs fall to Albuquerque

Valentino Pascucci drilled a 3-0 pitch over the left center field wall in the bottom of the ninth inning to deliver the Albuquerque Isotopes a 4-3 win on Saturday night at Isotopes Park. The New Orleans Zephyrs starting pitcher Philip Humber was outstanding, pitching seven innings and allowed one run on six hits in the no decision. Isotope outfielder John Gall hit a solo home run in the first inning to start the scoring. The Zs rallied and scored three runs in the seventh inning to take the lead. A pair of errors in the inning and a wild pitch allowed the Zephyrs to score three times. Former Zephyr Roy Corcoran gets a blown save. Zs reliever Jose Santiago allowed a pair of runs in the eighth inning to tie the game and the walk off home run in the 9th. The Zs left a season high ten men on base. The loss snaps a five game win streak.

Game Notes: The Zs assigned catcher Robinson Cancel to the Mets Double A team in Binghamton, NY. The loss snapped a streak of four consecutive one run wins, the Z's are 6-3 in one run games. The four errors by Albuquerque is the most by a Zephyr opponent this season. New Orleans did not make an error for the sixth consecutive game. A pair of former Zephyrs played in the game for the Isotopes on Saturday. Josh Labanderia was 1x4 with a run scored and Roy Corcoran worked two innings and allowed 3 runs.

Coming Up: The Zephyrs (10-7) and Albuquerque Isotopes (7-9) will meet Sunday afternoon at Isotopes Park at 2:35 CST. New Orleans will start former Isotope Jason Vargas (2-0, 1.50) against RH Wes Obermueller (0-1, 2.45) ... Radio: WIST AM 690.
