New Orleans Baby Cakes News Release
Game Keys - The Sky Sox scored three in the first and added four runs in the second inning in a 9-6 win over the Zephyrs on Thursday night. Jayson Nix hit two home runs for Colorado Springs driving home two runs and Joe Koshansky hit a home run in the second inning and had four RBI in the Sox win. The Zephyrs starter Brandon Knight was scratched from his start. Knight was supposed to make one more start prior to joining Team USA this weekend in preparation for the Olympics in China. He was scratched as a precaution, as the Mets may need him to make a start this Saturday to replace Pedro Martinez. Jose Santiago started in his place and pitched three innings and allowed 8 runs on nine hits and suffered his first loss of the season. The Z's trailed 7-0 but battled back in the game. Chris Aguila and Andy Green each had two RBI and two hits in a losing cause. Sox starter Sean Smith walked seven batters and allowed 5 hits in seven innings to get the win. Steven Register retired the final batter to get his league leading 16th save of the season.
Game Notes: Jose Santiago made an emergency start for New Orleans, 10th different pitcher to start a game for the Z's.
