EVERETT, Wash. - Taylor Zeutenhorst went 2 for 3 with a pair of runs scored and a home run to help the AquaSox take a 4-1 win over Tri-City in the series opener Friday, Aug. 28, at Everett Memorial Stadium.
Zeutenhorst lifted the solo shot in the fourth inning over the manual scoreboard in right field. He also scored the game's first run when Corey Simpson grounded out with the bases loaded to bring Zeutenhorst in from third.
Ryan Uhl brought in the other two runs on a bloop single up the line in shallow left field. Drew Jackson and Arturo Nieto scored on the play. Jackson went 0 for 3 with a walk to extend his home on-base streak to 18 games, but his batting average fell to .385 in his fight to reach .400 on the season.
Rohn Pierce pitched 2 1/3 scoreless innings in his first career start. He struck out four, walked one and hit two batters, laboring through the beginning stages of the game with 50 pitches. Spencer Herrmann threw the next 2 2/3 innings in relief, allowing a solo homer to Tri-City's Rod Boykin, but striking out three and only allowing two hits and no walks to earn the win.
