Vancouver Canadians News Release

(Avista Stadium - Spokane, WA) - Minutes after taking the first game of Friday night's double header, the Canadians ran into a pair of Spokane pitchers who combined to one-hit Vancouver as the Indians took the nightcap 4-0 out at Avista Stadium.

The Canadians lone hit came in the top of the 5th inning on a soft base hit off the bat of DH Juan Kelly - a ball that many thought could have been caught by right fielder Todd McDonald. Spokane starter RHP Blake Bass retired all nine Vancouver hitters he faced striking out four before turning the ball over to reliever LHP Omarlin Lopez.

Lopez would cruise through his first three innings allowing just the one hit, but ran into a bit of trouble in the top of the 7th when he walked the bases loaded. With two outs and the bases full, Canadians CF Rolando Segovia would ground out to Indians SS Dylan Moore to secure the 4-0 shutout victory.

With the loss, Vancouver falls to 14-16 through 30 second half games and 30-38 overall on the 2015 season. The Canadians are now four full games back of North Division leading Everett who topped Tri-City 4-1 on Friday night. Eight games remain on the regular season schedule.
