New Orleans Baby Cakes News Release
SALT LAKE CITY -- Royce Huffman drove home four runs and Henri Stanley finished with three hits and two RBI as the New Orleans Zephyrs pounded the Salt Lake Stingers, 16-2 on Sunday afternoon in Salt Lake City.
Huffman had a bases-clearing double in the seventh inning to ignite a four-run outburst and laced an RBI single during a five-run eighth. Stanley, who entered the game in the midst of a 2-for-20 slump, keyed a four-run third inning with a two-run double before singling and scoring in the seventh. Jason Alfaro and Kyle Logan each finished 3-for-5 as part of an 18-hit attack for New Orleans, which scored double-digit runs for the fourth time this season, improving to 29-21.
Rodrigo Rosario (5-4) allowed two runs and four hits, striking out six and walking three, over five innings to pick up the win. Trent Durrington ripped an RBI single in the fifth inning and Barry Wesson produced a sixth-inning sacrifice fly for Salt Lake, which had an eight-game win streak stopped. Matt Hensley (3-3) surrendered seven runs -- four earned -- and eight hits in six innings to take the loss.
The series with the Stingers concludes on Monday at 7:30 p.m. The game can be heard on WTIX-AM 690 ant at www.zephyrsbaseball.com with Tim Grubbs calling the action.
