Zephyrs Hit Three Homeruns to Defeat Royals, 9-5

Metairie, LA – Alan Zinter, Colin Porter and Raul Chavez each hit a home run to lead the New Orleans Zephyrs (19-13) past the Omaha Royals (15-18) 9 to 5 on Tuesday Night at Zephyr Field.

New Orleans took a 3 to 1 lead into the third inning but Julius Matos hit a three run homer to put Omaha ahead 4 to 3. The Zephyrs took the lead for good in the fourth as Porter and Chavez hit back to back home runs. Zinter added a solo in the fifth to make the score 7 to 4.

Jeriome Robertson would pick up the win pitching 6 2/3 innings allowing five runs on seven hits while striking out five. Robertson (1-0), the 2002 Pacific Coast league Pitcher of the year, was making his first start of the season for the Zephyrs. He was optioned to New Orleans from Houston on May 3.

Shawn Sedlacek suffered the loss for Omaha pitching 5 2/3 innings allowing seven runs on eleven hits. The Zephyrs won for the fourth time in a row and tenth out of twelfth.
