Portland Beavers News Release
Portland, Ore.-Kory De Hann and Jason Bay combined for six hits and Alex Fernandez made a potentially game-saving catch in the eighth as the Beavers earned a series split by edging Fresno 3-2 at PGE Park Monday night.
Pitcher Oliver Perez scored on a De Haan double in the third to put the Beavers (21-11) up 1-0. Fresno would tie the score the next inning after a single by Minor scored Brian Dallimore.
A fifth inning Lunsford solo shot to left pulled Fresno (13-17) out in front, but in the sixth the Beavers would rally to take a 3-2 lead off an error and a fielder's choice, putting them ahead for good.
Perez (4-3) got the win, striking out eight in six innings while allowing four hits and two runs. Courtney Duncan earned his twelfth save in the effort.
