
Zephyrs Hammer 3 Home Runs in Road Win

OKLAHOMA CITY, Oklahoma - The Zephyrs hammered three home runs and defeated the Oklahoma City RedHawks 10-8 in a wild back and fourth game in front of 10,104 at Bricktown Ballpark.
Kevin Mattison started the scoring with a lead-off home run on the second pitch of the game in the first inning. The RedHawks scored a pair of runs in the bottom of the first inning to take a 2-1 lead.
The Zephyrs scratched out five runs on six hits in the third inning to take 6-3 lead. Gaby Sanchez added a three run double for the visiting Zephyrs.
Carlos Corporan led the way for the RedHawks with three hits and a pair of RBI. Oklahoma City tied the game in the sixth inning with a Fernando Martinez RBI single. A bizarre base running blunder by Marwin Gonzalez cost the Hawks from scoring an additional run in the inning.
Mike Cervenak drilled a two out three run home run in the eighth inning off of reliever Mickey Storey to push the Zephyrs back on top 9-6.
The Hawks scored a pair of runs in the eighth inning to cut the lead to one run again. In the ninth inning Donnie Murphy solo home run added insurance and Chris Hatcher earned his fifth save as the Zephyrs evened the series at one.
Dan Jennings earned the win in relief and Mickey Storey suffered the defeat for the Hawks.
First place Oklahoma City leads the Zephyrs by 5.5 games.
