ALBUQUERQUE, New Mexico - Alfredo Amezaga pounded out three hits including a home run and a triple to lead the Isotopes to a 6-2 victory over the visiting New Orleans Zephyrs on Sunday afternoon.
Ed Lucas started the game off right for the Zephyrs drilling a solo home run to centerfield to give the Z's a 1-0 lead in the first. The Topes answered in the bottom of the inning. Tony Gwynn, Jr. walked and scored on a Elian Herrera double.
Gorkys Hernandez singled in the third inning and scored when Bryan Petersen doubled. Gwynn tied the game with a solo home run. Albuquerque grabbed the lead with an Amezaga home run in the fourth inning.
The Topes led the contest 3-2 in the sixth inning with the bases loaded when Rusty Ryal drilled a long fly ball to centerfield. Hernandez ran it down but ran into the hill in centerfield and the ball jarred loose allowing Ryal to clear the bases with a three run triple.
