Altoona Curve News Release

CURVE, Pa. - Altoona was firing on all cylinders throughout Friday's game against the Akron RubberDucks as they rolled to a sixth-straight win with a, 4-2, victory. The six--straight victories for the Curve are now a new season-best. Zack Dodson (2-1) was masterful on Friday with seven innings of no run ball and eight strikeouts while Max Moroff extended his on-base streak to 30 game in the victory.

Moroff's went 2-4 in Friday night's victory and his single in the first inning cemented the extension of his on-base streak. Moroff is only three games away from tying the franchise record at 33 games set by Ronny Paulino in 2004.

Dodson had only eight strikeouts coming into tonight's contest and doubled his total tonight with his eight punchouts. The total fell one shy of his career-high of nine, which he set in 2014. The eight strikeouts also are the most by a single Curve pitcher in a game this year.

Keon Broxton jump-started the Curve (22-11) with a stand-up lead-off double in the first. Josh Bell's groundout later in the inning scored Broxton for the first run of the game. Edward Salcedo followed with a single that scored Moroff, give the Curve a 2-0 lead over the RubberDucks (14-21).

Altoona went on to add two more runs in the third. Bell brought home Broxton to give the Curve a 3-0 lead. The inning's final run came across when Stetson Allie grounded into a double play to score Moroff. The trio of Broxton, Moroff and Bell went 5-for-11, scoring four runs and collecting two RBIs.

All four of the Curve runs were charged to 'Ducks starter Ryan Merritt (2-3), who tossed seven innings in the loss.

Akron was able to tally a pair of runs to pull within two in the eighth after Dodson departed the game. In the ninth, Curve closer Yhonathan Barrios worked around two walks to earn his eighth save of the 2015 season.
