Youngstown Phantoms News Release

YOUNGSTOWN - The Youngstown Phantoms have traded defenseman Ty Farmer for draft picks in the upcoming United States Hockey League May 2017 Draft.

Farmer, of O'Fallon, MO, will stay in the USHL Eastern Conference with the Muskegon Lumberjacks.

The transaction included Farmer and Youngstown's tenth round pick in Phase One of the May 2017 USHL draft for Muskegon's fourth round pick in Phase One and Muskegon's fifth round pick in Phase Two.

"Ty has been with us for the past two-and-a-half years and has been a great young man and an exceptional competitor," said General Manager Jason Koehler. "This season we've been fortunate to have eight healthy defenseman and we think that this move will provide Ty with the opportunity to see more time on the ice and play a more important role as a veteran teammate."

Farmer played in 87 games during his time with the Phantoms. He ends his career in Youngstown with a total of two goals, 13 assists and 68 shots on goal.

"We wish Ty nothing but the best in his junior career and future college career at Michigan State," said Koehler.

The Youngstown Phantoms roster could have some additional movement and changes with the upcoming February 6 USA Hockey trade deadline and the February 27 USHL trade deadline.
