Brockton Rox News Release
BROCKTON - Taking the microphone for the first time in their professional careers, 14-year old Jeremy Adler and 16-year old Ted Sellers will form what is believed to be the youngest radio duo ever when the pair calls the action on the Brockton Rox radio broadcast on August 3rd as a part of "Kids Rock" presented by Sovereign Bank. For "Kids Rock" on August 3rd, kids completely take over the operational duties of the park, serving as ticket takers, concession workers, ushers, and radio broadcasters.
"While Ted and Jeremy may both be young, they both have put in substantial time this season learning what it takes to call a professional baseball game," said Jim Lucas, President of the Rox. "Having heard both of them practice for 'Kids Rock,' I know that they will not only be professional, but their broadcast will be accurate, informative, and fun for Rox fans."
Jeremy, a student at Sharon Middle School in Sharon, MA, has spent time at sports broadcasting camp, while Ted broadcasts sports at Whitman-Hanson High School and has appeared twice on the Red Sox Pregame Show on NESN. Jeremy and Ted have both spent significant time at Campanelli Stadium this season studying the team and working with Rox Radio Broadcaster Chad Goldberg to prepare for this opportunity. Each will spend time working as the play-by-play broadcaster and as the analyst as the Rox take on the Quebec Capitales on August 3rd. The game can be heard in the Brockton Area on WBET 1460-AM and online at www.brocktonrox.com.
"I am sure that this will be not only a great experience for Jeremy and Ted, but all of our fans," said Chad Goldberg, the Rox Play-by-Play Broadcaster. "In fact, it might be tough for me to get the microphone back once the fans hear them!"
Tickets are available for Kids Rock on August 3rd and for all remaining home games by calling the Rox Ticket Office at 508-559-7070 or online at www.brocktonrox.com.
