Sioux Falls, SD-The Sioux Falls Stampede are proud to announce that forward Austyn Young has been selected to play for the U.S. National Junior Select Team that will compete at the World Junior A Challenge in Langley, British Columbia from November 7-13. Among the 22-player roster, 20 players are from the USHL.

Young is in his second season with the Stampede and has recorded three points (2g, 1a) in four games so far this season. Last year, Young posted 32 points (11g, 21a) and was a +14 in 54 games while helping lead the Stampede to the Western Conference Finals. The South St. Paul, MN native has already committed to the University of Minnesota-Duluth.

The Stampede have had success in the tournament with players and coaches. Nick Dineen and Jack Connolly played for Team USA in 2007. Dineen scored a pair of goals to help the Americans win the bronze-medal game that year. Both players are now captains in college. In 2009, former assistant coach Andy Jones served as a coach for the U.S. team and helped guide them to a gold medal. Jones is now an assistant coach at Clarkson University.

Leading the U.S. National Junior Select Team is a trio of USHL coaches. Regg Simon of the Des Moines Buccaneers will serve as the team's head coach, while Omaha Lancers Head Coach Bliss Littler and Waterloo Black Hawks Associate Coach Shane Fukushima are on the staff as assistant coaches. Also representing the USHL on the staff are equipment manager Darrin Flinchem (Indiana Ice) and athletic trainer Todd Klein (Waterloo Black Hawks).

The 2011 World Junior A Challenge is a six-team tournament. In addition to the United States, teams come from the Czech Republic, Russia, Sweden, Canada east and Canada West.

The Stampede return to action tonight when they host the Lincoln Stars at 7:05 PM. Its Halloween night with the Stampede so come dressed in your favorite costume!
