Waterloo Black Hawks News Release

A five minute major power play late in the second period Friday swung the Waterloo Black Hawks' game against the Green Bay Gamblers to the visitors; Green Bay left Young Arena with a 6-3 decision.

A major penalty for boarding to Eddie Wittchow seconds after Jamie Hill's breakaway game-tying goal at 14:48 turned momentum right back to Green Bay. Goals during the resulting power play for Alex Broadhurst at 17:58 and Alex Kile at 19:11 put Waterloo behind 4-2 at the second intermission.

In the third, Vince Hinostroza buried a feed from Taylor Cammarata during a power play at 3:30. However, the Hawks could not generate the equalizer. Nolan LaPorte and Kile notched empty net goals in the final minute to seal the win.

Green Bay and Waterloo combined to score three goals in the first 5:01 of the game. C.J. Eick sped into the Hawks zone and found the net at 2:43, but less than a minute later, Tyler Zepeda put in a shot from below the goal line, left of the net. The Gamblers reassumed the lead at 5:01 when Kyle Novak's no-look pass from behind the cage set up Kyle Chatham with an open side from the left wing circle.

The Black Hawks are right back on home ice Saturday for a matchup against the Omaha Lancers at 7:05. Many good seats still remain, with the game highlighted by Waterloo's annual Breast Cancer Awareness Night presented by the Breast Care Center. It's also a iWireless College Night with $7 tickets available for all students with a valid ID.
