Dubuque Fighting Saints News Release

ANN ARBOR, Michigan - For the second consecutive season, a member of the Fighting Saints will play at the World Junior A Challenge - this time for the US Junior Select Team. Dubuque's Matt Morris will serve as one of the goaltenders for the team that will play squads from four other nations at the tournament in Langley, British Columbia from November 7 to 13.

Morris will bring championship experience to the squad. He was named the MVP of the Clark Cup Playoffs last season, as the Fighting Saints hoisted the Cup in their first USHL season. Morris compiled a 9-2 record with a 1.53 goals against average and a .943 save percentage in the playoffs. He has started this season 2-2-0 with a 2.01 goals against average and a .902 save percentage.

Team USA has won the tournament for three years in a row, and the USHL has been a large part of that success. Morris will join 19 other USHL players on the 22-man roster, and three USHL coaches will lead the squad. Last season, Fighting Saints defenseman Joakim Ryan played for Team Sweden at the Challenge. Ryan is a freshman at Cornell this season.

The 2011 World Junior A Challenge is a six-team tournament. In addition to the United States, teams come from the Czech Republic, Russia, Sweden, Canada East, and Canada West.
