York Revolution Earned a 6-2 Victory Over Long Island

The York Revolution erupted for three runs in the sixth and three more in the seventh, and earned a 6-2 win over the Long Island Ducks to open the four-game weekend series at Sovereign Bank Stadium, behind a brilliant effort from York starter Dave Gassner who earned the win. The Revs have now won four of their last five home games, with three of those wins occurring in come-from-behind fashion. Friday's game was played in front of 4,148 fans. The Revs will now turn their attention to a day-night doubleheader on Saturday, with first pitches scheduled for 12 p.m. and 7 p.m.
Gassner (2-5) allowed just four hits through seven innings. Three of those hits came in the fourth, when Ray Navarette homered over the Arch Nemesis to open the scoring, and two doubles followed, the second by Ron Davenport, driving home John Pachot to give the Ducks a 2-0 lead.
Gassner got tough from there, however, and did not allow a hit the rest of the way, while facing the minimum over his final three innings.
Travis Phelps worked a perfect eighth, and Brian Holliday took care of the ninth to finish off the win.
Meanwhile, the offense scuffled early on against Long Island starter Jake Dittler, who fired seven scoreless innings against the Revs, and took a shutout into the sixth on Friday night, building a 12-inning scoreless streak. In fact, every out he recorded in the first four innings came on ground balls in the infield.
The tide turned in the Revs' favor in the sixth. After a leaping catch by Keoni DeRenne at second base to start a double play that ended the top half, Matt Padgett led off the bottom half with a bloop hit, and Tom Collaro singled to right. Jason Aspito then sacrificed both runners over, and Ryan Goleski was hit by a pitch to load the bases. Matt Rogelstad then provided his biggest hit since joining the club, roping a bases-clearing, three-run double down the right field line, to not only get the Revs on the board, but put them on top at 3-2.
The Revs then chased Dittler in the seventh. Danny Sandoval doubled with one out, and following an intentional walk to Padgett, Collaro drove an RBI double onto the warning track in right to give York a 4-2 lead. Aspito then greeted reliever Jason Norderum with a two-run single up the middle to provide the insurance runs.
Notes: The Revs played errorless defense for a franchise-record sixth consecutive game. Due to weather, the start time was pushed back to 8 p.m. The three-run sixth and seventh innings were the first multi-run innings since the fourth inning on Monday night (31 innings without scoring more than one run). Saturday's 12 p.m. game is a makeup from Thursday's rainout. All tickets from Thursday are good for the noon game on Saturday, and Team Baseball Card Sets will be given away to the first 2,000 fans courtesy of Pizza Hut and WSBA. Dan Foli will face Brad Halsey in the opener. The nightcap features Postgame Fireworks presented by FlipSide, and it's a Scratch-Off Saturday, presented by Ettline Foods and WSBA. Corey Thurman will take on Julio Manon in game two.
