
Yard Goats Deliver Mother's Day Victory

Bowie, MD- The Hartford Yard Goats beat the Bowie Baysox by the score of 9-4 on Sunday afternoon at Prince George's Stadium in Bowie, Maryland. Dom Nunez and Sam Hilliard each had three hits, Nunez scored three times, and Hilliard drove in three runs in Hartford's 19th win in the past 26 games. Brendan Rodgers contributed to the victory with a pair of extra base hits, including a solo home run, and drove in three runs. Yard Goats starter, Parker French hurled five innings, and allowed just two runs while earning his first win of the season. After losing the first two games of the series, Hartford won the final two contests to earn a split in the four-game set. The Yard Goats have lost only one series in their last nine tries since April 9-11.
The Yard Goats scored the first run of the game in the first inning off Bowie starter Lucan Long. Dom Nunez cracked a double down the right field line. Later in the inning, Sam Hilliard ripped a two-out single scoring Nunez and gave the Yard Goats a 1-0 lead.
Hartford added to its lead with three runs in the third inning to take a 4-0 lead. Garrett Hampson and Dom Nunez began the inning with back to back singles. Yonathan Daza's grounder scored Hampson from third and gave the Yard Goats a 2-0 edge. Brendan Rodgers followed with an RBI double, scoring Nunez and making it 3-0 Hartford. Sam Hilliard then ripped a double off the left field wall, scoring Rodgers and giving the Yard Goats a 4-0 lead.
The Baysox got on the board with a run in the fourth inning. Corbin Joseph led off the fourth inning with a triple and scored on a sacrifice fly by Ryan Mountcastle, making it a 4-1 game.
The Yard Goats were back at the Baysox in the fifth scoring three times against reliever Tanner Chleborad. Dom Nunez and Yonathan Daza started the rally with singles. Brendan Rodgers RBI grounder scored Nunez to make it a 5-1 game and Rodgers reached on a throwing error. Hilliard and Mundell followed with RBI singles and it was 7-1 Hartford after five innings.
The Baysox added single runs in the sixth and seventh innings but the Yard Goats scored in the seventh and Brendan Rodgers connected on his seventh home run, a solo shot in the eighth inning. Yard Goats relievers Craig Schlitter and Chris Jensen closed out the game.
The Yard Goats open a homestand at Dunkin' Donuts Park on Monday night against the New Hampshire Fisher Cats (Toronto Blue Jays affiliate) at 7:05 PM. It will be a battle of lefty pitchers as Jack Wykoop gets the start for Hartford and T.J. Zeuch counters for New Hampshire. The game will be televised on Vantage SportsNet (channel 1600) and broadcast on AM 1410 WPOP and streamed on newsradio.1410.com and MiLB.com.
