
Yard Goats Blast Three Homers in Ninth for Come-from-Behind Win

Manchester, NH- Bedford, New Hampshire native and Yard Goats first baseman Grant Lavigne cranked a go-head two-run home run in the eighth inning to highlight a five-run inning, helping the Hartford Yard Goats to come from behind to defeat the New Hampshire Fisher Cats 13-8 on Friday night at Delta Dental Stadium in Manchester, New Hampshire. The Yard Goats trailed 8-2 in the sixth inning, and blasted a franchise record six home runs, including three from Drew Romo to complete the comeback. Hunter Goodman smashed his 24th homer and became the single season home run king.
The Yard Goats fell behind 2-0 and tied the game on Drew Romo's homer in the fourth inning. The Fisher Cats followed with a six-run fourth inning to take a 8-2 lead. Hartford got a two-run homer from Kyle Datres in the sixth and made it 8-4. The Yard Goats took the lead with a five-run eighth inning. Drew Romo belted a two-run homer to start the rally and after Niko Decolati walked, Grant Lavigne hit a two-run home run to put the Yard Goats ahead 9-8. Hunter Goodman followed with a home run to make it 10-8. Romo hit his third homer of the game in the ninth inning, tying a franchise record.
Hartford relievers Andrew Quezada and Victor Vodnik combined to fire 5.2 scoreless innings in the victory.
The Yard Goats play the fifth of a six-game series on Saturday night (7:05 PM) against the Fisher Cats in New Hampshire. RHP Andrew Quezada will start for the Yard Goats and LHP Jimmy Robbins will pitch for the Fisher Cats. The game will be broadcast on AM 1410, FM 100.9 and on the iheart radio app. The Yard Goats return home to Dunkin' Park for their next homestand on Tuesday, August 1st to host the Reading Fightin Phils.
