Oklahoma City Yard Dawgz News Release

OKLAHOMA CITY - Oklahoma City Yard Dawgz WR Al Hunt became the 3rd person in af2 history to score 1,000 career points last Saturday in the teams 74-62 win over the visiting Lubbock Renegades. Hunt scored 5 TDs in the contest and was named Schutt Offensive Player of the Game for his efforts.

Hunt (5'11, 205, Northwestern Oklahoma State) currently has 1,010 receiving yards, his fourth season to reach the coveted 1,000 yard mark. He has earned five straight All-af2 selections, the most of any current player. He earned All-af2 First Team accolades in 2004 and 2007 and All-af2 Second Team recognition in 2003 (Tulsa), 2005 and 2006. Hunt is currently third All-Time in touchdowns (168), scoring (1,018), receiving touchdowns (144), and receiving yards (6,412).

"This just exemplifies the hard work and dedication Al has given to the AFL family and the Oklahoma City Yard Dawgz," said Head Coach Sparky McEwen. "He is the true definition of the arena football Ironman and it has been a joy to be a small part of his remarkable career."

Hunt embraces being one of the most accomplished and recognized players in Yard Dawgz history by making a difference off of the field as well. This year, he has volunteered with Habitat for Humanity, visited the patients at the VA Hospital, and has attended numerous community events throughout Oklahoma City.

"We greatly appreciate Al's commitment to the Yard Dawgz as well as the Oklahoma City community," commented Christie Cook, Yard Dawgz General Manager. "It is a privilege to be able to witness such a significant milestone in his af2 career."

The Oklahoma City Yard Dawgz will travel to South Georgia next Saturday, July 12th for their final road game of the season. The game can be heard live on JOX 930 or www.jox930.com.
