FORT MILL, S.C. - June 17, 2007 - Lance Broadway showed why the White Sox selected him in the first round of the 2005 draft, as he was brilliant in the Knights 8-7 win over visiting Scranton/Wilkes-Barre. The Knights improve to 30-39 on the season, while Scranton/Wilkes-Barre falls to 35-33.

Broadway went 7 innings allowing 2 runs off 5 hits, and striking out a season high 8 batters. He improves to 5-2 on the season. Broadway's 5 wins lead the Knights.

Broadway had suffered from a lack of run support in previous outings, but his teammates gave him plenty this time. The Knights scored five of there runs via the long ball. Kenny Kelly hit a three run home run in the third inning which gave the Knights the lead for good. Tomas Perez also hit a two run homer in the fourth inning.

The Yankees made it close with a four run 8th inning, and then tacked on another run in the 9th. Yankees outfielder Shelley Duncan hit his 17th home run of the season in the 8th inning. With it, Duncan is now second in the International League in home runs.

Prior to today's game the White Sox recalled Knights relief pitcher David Aardsma to Chicago. Aardsma appeared in 5 games with the Knights going 2-1 with a 5.40 ERA. Aardsma earned one save in three opportunities.

The Knights begin a four game road trip tomorrow when they take on the Norfolk Tides. Right handed pitcher Charlie Haeger (3-8, 5.77 ERA) will start for Charlotte, while right hander Tim Kester (3-6, 6.75 ERA) will start for Norfolk.

The Knights return home on June 22 to take on the Rochester Red Wings. Charlotte and Rochester will play 6 games in 4 days. The two teams are making up games that were snowed out in Rochester earlier in the season.
