
Y'alls Offense Stymied in Loss to Grizzlies

FLORENCE, Ky. - Gateway Grizzlies starting pitcher Sam Gardner struck out 11 Florence Y'alls batters in a 7-4 victory at Y'alls Ballpark on Saturday night in Florence.
In the bottom of the first inning, third baseman Chad Sedio got the scoring started with a two-run opposite field home run. After that, Gardner put up zeros in the next six innings, going seven innings in total of two-run baseball.
Offensively for Gateway, it scored in four consecutive innings to take a 6-2 lead after six innings.
Florence attempted to fight back in the eighth inning, scoring twice on just one hit to cut the deficit in half, both runs scoring with no one out. Right fielder Axel Johnson struck out with runners on first and second to end the threat.
Gateway tacked on a run in the top of the ninth off of reliever Jared Cheek on a wild pitch scored by Alonzo Jones, who tripled with one out in the inning.
Gardner earns the win, improving to 4-0 on the season, Tanner Cable earned his fourth save of the season. Florence starter Kevin Hahn falls to 3-5 on the year after four-inning, four-run outing.
