Washington Wild Things News Release
WASHINGTON, Pa. - Four solo home runs by the New Jersey Jackals helped to sink the Wild Things in the middle game of the three-game series, evening the set with a 4-2 win at Wild Things Park. Washington was able to put the tying run on base in the home half of the ninth, but couldn't finish the comeback attempt.
Todd Isaacs hit solo shots in each of his first two plate appearances to give New Jersey a 2-0 lead by the third inning. Washington scored on a sac fly by Bralin Jackson to bring the deficit to one in the sixth and had two on in the seventh but didn't score. In the eighth, Jason Agresti made it 3-1 Jackals and Stanley Espinal made it 4-1 in the ninth.
Washington got an RBI single from Tristan Peterson for his first pro run batted in in the ninth, but Peterson, who represented the tying run, was stranded at first when Nick Ward flied out just in front of the right-field warning track to end the game.
The Wild Things had won 10 in a row against the Jackals and seven straight at home before the loss Saturday, and will take a 16-4 record in their last 20 home games into Sunday's rubber game. It's a Kids Eat Free Sunday presented by PA Cyber and Harry Potter Night at Wild Things Park. The first 250 kids through the gates will receive a golden snitch baseball. Tickets are available at wildthingstickets.com.
