Washington Wild Things News Release
FLORENCE, Ky. - The Washington Wild Things and Florence Y'alls had to sit and wait to play Friday's two-game series finale due to rain, and once the rain went away, the pitchers owned the night. In the end though, Washington dropped a 3-1 decision to the Y'alls in a game where all of the scoring came in the first third of the contest.
Florence plated all three of its runs in the second inning. After a leadoff walk, Harrison DiNicola singled to right center, the ball got by right fielder Bralin Jackson and rolled to wall. It allowed Jose Brizuela to score the game's first run and DiNicola to go to third, the base he'd score from on what turned out to be a game-winning triple by Connor Crane. Crane scored on a safety aqueeze bunt by Will Baker later in the frame.
Cody Erickson, who made his season debut tonight, walked to start the third for the Wild Things and went to third on a bouncing ball through the right side by Derek Reddy. Erickson was scored on a sac fly by Joe Campagna.
Highlights for Washington included left-handed pitcher Ryan Hennen pitching two scoreless in his pro debut. He fanned four before John Murphy and Jesus Balaguer tossed scoreless innings and both punched out two Y'alls hitters.
The Wild Things head to Avon, Ohio for a three-game set against the Lake Erie Crushers. First pitch of the opener is scheduled for Saturday at 6:05 p.m. Washington will send righty Kevin McNorton to the mound against Lake Erie's Robby Rowland.
