Florence Y'alls News Release
EVANSVILLE, Ind. - The Evansville Otters got on top early against the Florence Y'alls to clinch the series in game two at Bosse Field.
An early scoring second inning from the Otters put the team on the board and pitching, led by starting right-handed pitcher Tim Holdgrafer, that didn't allow any Y'alls runs until the ninth.
The tension was high in the top of the ninth with the Y'alls given the opportunity to tie the game. Lead-off hitter Connor Perry kept hopes high, starting the inning with a single and later scoring the only Y'alls run of the night. With a man on first and third and two outs, Jordan Brower swung and missed at strike three, ending the game 3-1.
Holdgrafer, with the help of a mean fastball, struck out batters seven times, his third most of the season. Logan Sawyer came in to save his fourteenth game and now is tied for the league lead in saves.
Riley Krane, Jose Pujols and Andrew Penner scored in the second inning. Krane making his way home from a Jose Pujols RBI double later followed by a Gary Mattis RBI-double.
Florence Y'alls left-handed pitcher Casey Grimm takes his first loss to fall to 2-1 on the season. Jared Cheek and Sean Hughes came in for relief and kept the opposing team from scoring.
The Florence Y'alls will finish the series in Evansville Thursday at 6:35 CT/7:35 ET.
