(County Stadium - Yakima, WA) - A six-run outburst in the bottom of the 8th inning helped the Yakima Bears pull away from the Vancouver Canadians for an 11-5 victory out at County Stadium on Wednesday night in front of 1,807 fans.

Trailing by two heading into the top of the 3rd inning, Vancouver's offense scored a pair of runs in both the 3rd and 4th that included back-to-back doubles from 3B Roan Salas and RF Nick Baligod that gave the Canadians a 4-2 lead.

Yakima would tie the game at 4-4 in the bottom of the 5th inning, but Vancouver would regain the lead in the top of the 6th inning when 2B Shane Opitz would draw a leadoff walk and come around to score on a hard hit single off the bat of 3B Roan Salas to give the C's a 5-4 lead.

The Bears would prove resilient tying the game at 5-5 in the bottom of the 6th inning when RF Justin Hilt would draw a leadoff walk off of Canadians starter RHP Zack Breault before coming around to count on a sacrifice fly from C Steve Rodriguez.

Heading into the bottom of the 8th, Canadians interim manager Dave Pano would leave the ball in the hands of the often reliable RHP Philip Brua, but the Bears would scorch both Brua and reliever RHP Bryan Longpre for six runs that included a two-run home run from RF Justin Hilt that helped Yakima to an 11-5 victory on Wednesday night.

Notes: Canadians 3B Balbino Fuenmayor was hit on the base of his helmet by a RHP Yiomar Camacho fastball in the top of the 1st inning that left him motionless for a few moments before he left on his own strength... He is listed as day-to-day with a upper body (neck) injury and will be re-assessed on Thursday.

With the loss, Vancouver drops to 5-10 (.333) on the season and remain four games off the pace in the Northwest League West Division with 23 games remaining.
