Sioux City-----The Explorers hit four home runs Saturday in a 10-6 win over Gary Southshore to defeat the Railcats for the second straight game.
Kent Sakamoto, Brett Flowers, Brian Bistange and Ray Serrano all hit two-run home runs in the victory. It was the second time this week and the second time this season that the Explorers hit four home runs in a contest. The last time was Tuesday night in a loss to Winnipeg at Lewis and Clark Park. The win reduces the lead that Gary Southshore has over the Explorers to seven games. The Explorers had 14-hits in the win with Wally Backman, Jr. leading the way with three hits. Every Explorers batter in the lineup had at least one hit and Ryan Priddy with a hit extended his hitting streak to ten games.
Ty Marotz pitched one of his better games of the season, going eight and one third innings to pick up his sixth win of the season. It was the longest outing for Marotz this season. Eddie Delacruz came in and got the final out of the game to record his eighth save of the year.
