
X's Outscore Wichita 21-1 In The Two Game Doubleheader

The Sioux City Explorers win both games of the doubleheader in blowout fashion, winning the first game 12-1 and the second 9-0 in fourteen total innings at Lewis and Clark Park.
Sioux City kept the momentum going from game one, plating their thirteenth run of the day (first of the game) in the first inning of the doubleheader. X's first baseman Rene Tosoni knocked in a run from first base with a single, giving the Explorers the 1-0 lead.
Explorers extended the lead in the second inning. X's second baseman Ryan Court singled and moved to second and third off wild pitches to put him 90 feet away from home plate. With Court in scoring position, Tim Colwell hit a hard ground ball to second base to score Court and get their second run of the game.
The X's plated five more in the fourth inning. Tim Colwell knocked in two runs with a double, Brendan Slattery scored from third on a ground ball-out, Rene Tosoni went on to score Colwell with an RBI single, and Noah Perio lined a single to left that scored Tosoni from third base.
The Explorers went on to score two more runs in the game to make it 9-0, which would go on to be the final score of the game.
Explorers starter Ryan Zimmerman (13-2) got the win, pitching six scoreless innings with two strikeouts. Wingnuts starting pitcher Max Beaty (0-1) was charged with the loss, giving up seven runs in 3.2 innings.
Sioux City had four batters finish the game with double-digit hits. X's first baseman Rene Tosoni had himself a three hit contest alongside a double, two RBIs and a run scored. Matty Johnson, Brendan Slattery and Tim Colwell all finished with two hits.
