
X's Get 9-8 Victory Over Kansas City

The Sioux City Explorers win their fifth game in as many tries over the T-Bones this season with a 9-8 victory over Kansas City Tuesday night.
Sioux City scored the first two runs in the contest on an RBI groundout by Brock Kjeldgaard, and then an RBI single by X's shortstop Noah Perio Jr that scored Michael Lang from third. In the second inning, Dillon Usiak smashed a one out triple to put him in scoring position. Matty Johnson then hit a sac-fly to right field to score Usiak and extend Sioux City's lead 3-0.
The T-Bones took the lead in the fourth inning, Ryan Cavan scored the first run of the inning on a ground rule double that plated Vladimir Frias from third. Kansas City third baseman Jake Blackwood hit a two-run single to tie it at 3-3, and then a solo-homer by first baseman Nate Tenbrink gave them the 4-3 lead.
The X's tied in the bottom of the third on single by Noah Perio Jr that scored Tosoni. Sioux City put up four runs in the fourth inning on two hits and an error. In the fourth inning Perio hit another run scoring base-hit (double) to give him his second RBI of the game and third hit on the night.
The Explorers had the lead 8-4 after five innings, but in the sixth, Kyle Robinson hit a three-run home run to shorten the X's lead to one. The T-Bones went on to tie the game at 8-8 in the top of the seventh off a RBI single by Robby Kuzdale.
In the bottom of the seventh, Ryan Court lead-off with a single to start off the inning. With one out and Court on first, Explorers catcher Matt Koch smacked a triple that scored Ryan Court all the way from first. The Explorers went on to win it 9-8 over the Kansas City T-Bones
Sioux City's right-hander Jose Flores closed it out in the ninth going 1-2-3 and getting his sixth save of the season. The Sioux City Explorers win it 9-8 over the Kansas City T-Bones.
John Straka the starting pitcher for the X's, got the no decision going five innings, allowing seven runs (five earned), while striking out one. Rob Wort would get the win for Sioux City, pitching in relief in the seventh and eighth innings.
Bobby Doran, starter for the T-bones received a no decision as well, allowing eight runs in 3.1 innings pitched. Righty Jonathan Kountis was charged with the loss allowing one run in two innings of relief.
Explorers shortstop Noah Perio Jr finished the night going 3 for 5, with 2 RBIs and a double. Dillon Usiak and Rene Tosoni both had two hits in the contest as well. For the T-Bones, lead-off hitter Ryan Cavan had the hot bat going 3 for 5 with an RBI and a run scored.
