Laredo Lemurs News Release

Laredo, TX - The Laredo Lemurs (4-7) saw everyone in the lineup pick up at least one base hit and score at least one run as they beat the Lincoln Saltdogs (4-7) 12-5 on Monday night at Uni-Trade Stadium.

The Lemurs had their highest hit and run output of the short season as they put up 17 hits and scored 12 runs behind three home runs. The homers came off the bats of D'Vontrey Richardson in the third for his first of the season; catcher Luke Bailey hit his league-leading fourth home run with Matt Padgett on base in the third as well; and Tony Delmonico put one over the fence in the seventh for his second of the year.

The Saltdogs saw second baseman Ryan Lashley supply the offense when he hit a grand slam home run off Lemurs starter Kevin Brandt in the top of the third. Brandt pitched to two more batters before Laredo Manager Pete Incaviglia made a move to the bullpen for newcomer Dan Minor. Minor retired the side in the third but gave up another Saltdogs run in the fourth.

The rest of the Lemurs' relief core shut down the Saltdogs as Luis Pollorena, Ryan Beckman, Henry Garcia, B.J. Hyatt, and John Brebbia did not allow a run over the last five frames.

Ryan Beckman (1-0) picked up the win for the Lemurs as he pitched two innings without giving up a hit or a run with one strikeout. Beckman has been a solid force in the bullpen for the Lemurs since the start of the season, only allowing on unearned run over 6.2 innings of work.

The loss was taken by Saltdogs starter Zach Staniewicz (0-2) who threw four, giving up 11 hits and 10 runs, which were all earned. He also walked four and posted four strikeouts.

The Lemurs will face the Saltdogs two more times in the series.  Both Tuesday's and Wednesday's games are set for 7:30pm at Uni-Trade Stadium.
