
Xplosion Splits Weekend Games

Pittsburgh Xplosion News Release
Toledo, OH/Anderson, IN. The ABA Pittsburgh Xplosion split a pair of games against two strong opponents over the weekend. On Saturday night, the Xplosion defeated the Toledo Ice in Toledo for its eighth win in the past nine games, 112-99. Guard Coleco Buie led the Xplosion with 26 pints and forward Janerio Spurlock added 24 for the Xplosion who improved their record to 13-8. Isaac Jefferson chipped in 15 points and 9 rebounds for Pittsburgh; Jason Benson scored 15 and point guard Wayne Copeland dished out 8 assists.
Guard Jamal Staten led Toledo with 26 points and center Levy Jones added 19 points and 7 rebounds. The Xplosion jumped out to a 32-19 lead after the first quarter and never trailed in the game. And then, they moved onto meet the powerful Indiana Alley Cats in Anderson, Indiana.
The Alley Cats defeated the Xplosion 111-89 after jumping out to a 29-15 first quarter lead and outplayed the Xplosion the rest of the way led by Carl Edwards with 21 and Anthony Harden adding 16 in a balanced attack. Forward Darius Mattear led the Xplosion with 23 points and 15 rebounds and guard Wayne Copeland had an outstanding all-around game with 17 points, 10 rebounds, 9 steals and 5 assists. Pittsburgh returns home on Tuesday, Jan 24 for a game against the Kentucky Colonels at Mellon Arena. Tip off is 7pm.
