Baltimore Ravens' Adalius Thomas Shines as Maryland Nighthawks' 11th Man
January 23, 2006 - American Basketball Association (ABA)
Maryland NightHawks News Release
Rockville, MD- The Maryland Nighthawks welcomed Baltimore Raven's Pro Bowl Defensive End with open arms. Playing under the ABA's special 11th Man Rule, which allows a celebrity to suit up and play in an ABA game, Thomas helped fuel the Nighthawks win over Darryl Dawkin's Newark Express. Thomas showed his All-Pro defensive skills by stepping in front of an Express pass and coming away with the interception....steal. His thunderous dunk in the 4rth Quarter put an exclamation mark on a big win for the Nighthawks. Lee Cooke led the Nighthawks with 24 points, and Nighthawks ABA player of the week Ray Cunningham had 16 points and 12 rebounds. WNBA star Chamique Holdsclaw of the Los Angeles Sparks and former University of Maryland and NBA Star Walt Williams attended the game and saw the Nighthawks come away with a 110-99 victory over the Newark Express.
The Nighthawks' next home game is Saturday January 28th at 7pm at Montgomery College Rockville Campus. The Rockville Police will be taking on the Rockville Fire Department prior to the game.
Note: OurSports Central no longer actively covers the American Basketball Association (ABA) as a professional league due in part to its inability to publish and play a schedule and the transitory nature of many of its teams.
