Maryland NightHawks News Release

Rockville, MD - The Maryland Nighthawks announced that they selected Luis "Trikz" da Silva with the 14th overall pick and Pat Robinson aka Pat da Roc with the 28th overall pick in the 2008 PBL Draft. In addition, the Nighthawks traded the rights of J.O. Ratdech Kruatiwa to the Rochester Razorsharks in exchange for future considerations.

"We are very pleased with the outcome of the draft," stated Nighthawks General Manager Adam Dantus. "These are two very talented and exciting guards that have the ability to control the game. Our fans in Maryland and overseas in China are in for a real treat."

Da Silva, a 6-0 guard, played his high school ball alongside NBA stars Al Harrington and Samuel Dalembret at St. Patrick's in Elizabeth, NJ where they were the number ranked team in the nation. He then signed a letter of intent to play college ball at Northwestern, but instead at the age of 18 signed with Nike. He was featured in a solo 30 second commercial demonstrating his spectacular basketball skills. Trikz was selected with the fourth overall pick in the inaugural 2007 PBL Draft by the Dallas Defenders. He was most recently endorsed by the clothing line "Starbury" and in 2007 toured 120 major US cities in 60 days with Stephon Marbury's "Sports, Lifestyle and Music" tour. Trikz has also appeared in several video games such as "NBA Ballers (I, II & III)", "NBA 2K8" and "LA Rush" and movies including "The Brave One," and is set to appear in "Pride and Glory," to be released in 2009.

Robinson, a 6-2 guard, more famously known as "Pat da Roc," is considered to be the world's best dribbler. He has played with the SBA, Harlem Magic Masters and Harlem Wizards. Pat was featured on the AND1 Streetball series on ESPN and was recently offered a contract by the Harlem Globetrotters.

The Nighthawks will be the official "Travel team" of the PBL this year, and are set to tour China and other Asian countries during the season. The Nighthawks will also be holding charity basketball games throughout the community.

The 2008 PBL Draft was held at the ESPN Zone in Chicago. The second-annual event is set to be televised later tonight on the PBLʼs satellite network and will be available for viewing in roughly 10 million homes. A complete draft recap video will also be available for viewing on the PBL and Nighthawks websites.
