Maryland NightHawks News Release

Chicago, IL-- The Maryland Nighthawks upset the Wilmington Sea Dawgs in the first round of the 2008 PBL Playoffs 125-112.

The fifth seeded Nighthawks trailed by as many as 20 points in the first half but were able to come-back and earn a trip in the East Division semi-finals.

"It was a total team effort," said Nighthawks Head Coach Lawrence Moten. "I told the guys to forget about what happened in the regular season and to give it your all for 48 minutes."

It was a total team effort as seven Nighthawks players scored in double-figures led by Omar Weaver's 26 points, who has scored 20 or more points in six of his last eight games.

The Nighthawks got a strong performance out of their back-court as Tyrone Hammond (season-high 22 points) and Warren Jefferson combined for 40 points.

The Nighthawks will play the third seeded Reading Railers Wednesday at 12pm EST. In the regular season, the Railers have won all three of the team's matchups, including a 112-81 win five days ago in Reading.
