Xplosion Fall To Nighthawks

Pittsburgh Xplosion News Release
Rockville, MD. The ABA Pittsburgh Xplosion lost to the Maryland Nighthawks, 122-96 in ABA action in Rockville, MD on Saturday night. Guard Coleco Buie led the Xplosion with 26 points and forward DeVaughn Halsel contributed 23 points and 9 rebounds as Pittsburgh's record fell to 15-10. The Nighthawks improved to 17-5 paced by 24 points from Ray Cunningham and 15 from Lee Cook. Pittsburgh remains in second place in the ABA's Freddie Lewis Division trailing the Indiana Alley Cats.
The Xplosion return home to face the Ohio Aviators on Wednesday, Feb 1 at Mellon Arena. Tip off is 7pm. To celebrate the Steelers' drive for a fifth Super Bowl Championship, the Xplosion will offer $5 tickets at the Mellon Arena Box Office Wednesday to ANYONE wearing Steeler apparel to the game. The tickets are normally $12.50. All Xplosion fans are encouraged to wear black and gold to the game to show their support for the Steelers.
At the game, the Xplosion will hold a special halftime ceremony honoring the coaches and players of the McKeesport High School football team, which won the PIAA Class AAAA championship. Freddie Lewis, majority owner and general manager of the Pittsburgh Xplosion and Dwayne Woodruff, a former Steeler MVP, defensive back and player on the Super Bowl XIV champions, will participate in the McKeesport football ceremony. Woodruff, part owner of the Xplosion, will also be available at the game for media interviews about the Steelers' Drive for Five.
