ABA Names Two More All-Stars
January 30, 2006 - American Basketball Association (ABA) News Release
Indianapolis, IN. The American Basketball Association (ABA) today named the eighth players to the East and West All-Star teams for the ABA All-Star Game to be played at the BankAtlantic Center in Sunrise, Florida on Saturday, February 11th. According to Ricardo Richardson, ABA EVP, "We've received a lot of questions from people asking if the ABA All-Stars are being named based on their ranking on the team. The answer is no - we just thought this would be a more interesting way to present the players and to generate addition interest and excitement. And it has worked well as we do receive a lot of questions and comments, probably more than we would have received had we named them all at one time." The players are:
East: Kaz Nakagawa, a 5'11" point guard from the Harlem Strong Dogs. West: Rio Logan, a 7'0" center from the Fresno Heatwave.
Richardson added, "We really needed some height on the West team and are very fortunate to have a player of Rio's caliber. I think the east was getting a little excited." For more information, visit www.abalive.com.
Note: OurSports Central no longer actively covers the American Basketball Association (ABA) as a professional league due in part to its inability to publish and play a schedule and the transitory nature of many of its teams.
