Wynne Pitches Reds to Series Opening Win in Bluefield

BLUEFIELD, VA - RHP Randy Wynne (W, 2-2) pitched 7.2 scoreless innings in the Greeneville Reds (21-32) 9-2 victory over the Bluefield Blue Jays (26-28) at Bowen Field Thursday night. Wynne came into the game with one out in the second inning and finished the game. He allowed seven hits and struck out four to pick up his second victory.

Bluefield got off to a hot start, scoring a run in the first two innings. In the first, Miguel Hiraldo hit an RBI-single, scoring Eric Rivera. Then in the second, Rivera's sacrifice fly scored Andres Guerra.

RHP Sam Ryan (L, 0-3) allowed just two hits and faced the minimum through three innings before allowing a leadoff double to Ivan Johnson in the fourth. Johnson scored the Reds first run on Tyler Callihan's two-out RBI-triple.

Greeneville sent nine to the plate, and scored five times in fifth. Jose Tello led off with a double, and moved to third on Danny Lantigua's single. The Reds then hit four straight one-out, RBI-singles. Mike Spooner's single tied the game. Johnson, Dan- ielito Remy, and A.J. Bumpass all followed RBI-singles to run the lead to 5-2. Callihan's sacrifice fly rounded out the scoring in the inning.

Johnson hit a two-out, two-run single in the fifth to extend Greeneville's lead to 8-2. Justin Gomez's sacrifice fly, scoring Remy, in the seventh rounded out the scoring.

Johnson finished the night 3-for-5 with a double, three RBI's, and two runs scored. Callihan hit a triple and drove in two. Tello, Lantigua, and Cristian Olivo all finished 2-for-4 with a run scored. Spooner reached base twice, scored twice, and had an RBI off the bench.

The Reds now have two chances to win the series at Bowen Field in Bluefield. RHP Graham Ashcraft (2-2, 5.31) will start for Greeneville Friday night against RHP Roither Hernandez (2-4, 7.04). First pitch is scheduled for 6:30 PM.
