Charleston, WV- The West Virginia Power fell 8-4 to the Greenville Drive Friday night at Appalachian Power Park. Greenville jumped to a 7-0 lead early and held off a late comeback attempt by the Power to send the club to their third straight defeat.

Greenville blew the game open with a five run, eight batter second, capped by a two-run home run over the right field fence by Mitchell Gonsolous, the last of five hits in the frame.

Kyri Washington expanded the Drive advantage with a two-run home run the fourth, giving the team a 7-0 lead.

Power starter Bret Helton (8-9) surrendered seven runs on seven hits over three and two thirds frames in his final start of the season.

West Virginia was able to climb back into the ball game in the middle innings against starter Logan Boyd. After a Jordan George walk in the fifth, Ryan Nagle hit an RBI double into left center to get the Power on the board. The Power followed it up with three runs in the sixth to cut the deficit in half. Mitchell Tolman walked and Logan Hill singled to get the inning started, setting the table for Daniel Arribas who plated one run with a double into the left field corner. The next batter, Carlos Munoz, singled into center to plate Hill, and the centerfielder Derek Miller over ran the ball which allowed Arribas to also come home to score the third run of the inning.

Boyd (14-7) gave up four runs, three earned, across five and a third innings, along with five strikeouts and two walks.

The Drive got one run back in the eighth when Jeremy Rivera knocked an RBI single off Julio Eusebio. West Virginia put two runners on base in the ninth before Victor Diaz recorded the final out to finish out the 8-4 victory.

Ryan Nagle was the only Power player to finish with multiple hits, with Arribas, Munoz and Nagle accounting for all the RBI.

The Power continue their final homestand of the season with game two against the Drive Saturday night. Gage Hinsz starts for West Virginia against Greenville starter Roniel Raudes. First pitch is schedule for 7:05 P.M. at Appalachian Power Park. The first 1,000 fans through the gates will receive a BBQ tool set giveaway.
