Delmarva Shorebirds News Release

SALISBURY, MD- Delmarva ran its winning streak to a season-best nine games on Friday night against the Kannapolis Intimidators with a 3-2 win at Arthur W. Perdue Stadium.

The Shorebirds (72-64, 30-37) pushed across all three of their runs in the third inning. After Gerrion Grim led off the frame with a walk, Drew Turbin launched a 2-run homer to right field to give the Shorebirds the lead. Just two pitches later, Cedric Mullins lifted a fairly routine fly ball to right-center field. But Tyler Sullivan and Micker Adolfo misplayed the ball and it landed safely between the two of them. Mullins never stopped running and beat the relay throw to home plate for an inside-the-park home run. It was Mullins' second home run in as many games and the Shorebirds' second inside-the-park homer this season.

Kannapolis (56-81, 32-35) got a run across on Bradley Strong's RBI single in the fourth inning and scored an unearned run in the fifth. But Mike Burke and Jake Bray combined to fire three scoreless innings in relief to seal up Delmarva's ninth win in a row.

Francisco Jimenez (9-9) finished his season on a solid note with a quality start and a win. He allowed two runs (one earned run) on six hits with one walk and two strikeouts. Max Beatty (4-7) was handed the loss, surrendering all three runs over five innings.

The Shorebirds try to run their winning streak to 10 straight games on Saturday night as Fan Appreciation Weekend continues at Arthur W. Perdue Stadium. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 pm. Brendan Gulick will have the broadcast beginning with Shorebirds On-Deck at 6:50 pm on Fox Sports AM 960 and online at theshorebirds.com.
