Playoff Bound Claws Clinch Division with 10-4 Win over Greensboro

LAKEWOOD, NJ - Entering Friday night's game against Greensboro, the BlueClaws needed one win to clinch a spot in the post-season. They left no doubt about their first trip to the playoffs in six years, scoring six times in the first inning en route to a 10-4 win on Friday night at FirstEnergy Park.

The BlueClaws (42-25/71-65) clinched a playoff spot, their first since 2010, by winning for the 21st time in the last 27 games.

The six-run first inning included an RBI double by Jose Pujols to open the scoring and included an RBI double by Damek Tomscha and two-run single by Mark Laird. All six runs were charged to Greensboro starter Justin Jacome (1-5), who gave up three hits and three walks in 2/3 of an inning.

Lakewood added two runs in the second, though both were unearned against Michael King.

Meanwhile, Lakewood starter Seranthony Dominguez (5-2) threw six scoreless innings and has thrown 21 straight scoreless innings over his last four starts. Dominguez, who has won three straight starts, gave up four hits and walks but struck out eight, one off his season high.

Jose Pujols went 3-4 with two RBIs while Wilson Garcia and Edgar Cabral had two hits apiece.

Greensboro (27-40/65-73) lost their 11th straight game.
