TONIGHT'S MATCH-UP

Neverauskas: Allowed 1 R on 4 H over 7.0 IP in 7/25 W @ HIC w/ 5 K & 4 BB (6-1 Power)

Farrell: Allowed 6 R(4 ER) on 8 H over 4.2 IP in 7/25 L vs CSC w/ 2 K & 2 BB (6-1 CSC)

THE LEAD OFF: The Power outlasted the Rome Braves on Tuesday night at State Mutual Stadium 4-3 in 10 innings. The Braves got the early advantage with a run in the first. West Virginia answered in the fifth with a run on a Wyatt Mathisen RBI triple. Rome responded in the bottom half with another tally to regain the lead. In the ninth, Reese McGuire plated a run on a bunt single and an RBI groundout by Mathisen put the Power on top. Jacob Schrader blasted a solo home run in the bottom of the ninth to send it to extras, but in the tenth Maximo Rivera singled home JaCoby Jones for the Power win. Brett McKinney notched the win and Matt Sims was charged with the loss.

HERE IT GOES AGAIN: The Power have played Lexington more than any other opponent during their nine previous seasons. The cross-division rivals are only two-and-a-half hours apart along I-64 and have played 182 times since the start of the 2005 season. West Virginia leads the all-time series 93-89 after having gone 11-9 against Lexington last season. The Legends hold the upper hand in Charleston, having a 47-39 mark.

FINAL STRETCH: The Power have 31 games remaining in the 2014 season. 19 of the 31 games will match West Virginia with either Lexington or Asheville. The Power have 11 games left with the Legends, including tonight's affair. Meanwhile, West Virginia will see Asheville eight more times before the season concludes. 11 of the 19 will have the Power on the road.

IT'S BEEN A WHILE: With a win over the Rome Braves on Tuesday night, the West Virginia Power captured their seventh series win of the 2014 season. It was the first series win in the month of July for the Power and the first since a series victory over Delmarva. West Virginia took the series 3-1 back on June 26 in Salisbury.

EASIER SAID THAN DONE: Dovydas Neverauskas has struggled in the first inning of his outings more so than any other frame. The right-hander has an 8.55 ERA in the first inning in 20 innings tossed, allowing 35 hits and 19 earned runs while walking 11. Neverauskas has allowed nearly a third of his earned runs in the first inning. The native of Lithuania's ERA drops from 8.55 to 3.20 in the second inning.

BULLPEN BURNT: In 38 second half games, West Virginia's starting pitchers have a 10-10 record and a 3.59 earned run average over 190.2 innings pitched. The Power bullpen is 9-10, but has a 5.07 ERA over 163 innings. During the first half of the season, the bullpen's earned run average was a half a run lower than the starters (4.20 compared to 4.73).

DIAMOND IN THE ROUGH: Josh Murray, a member of the inaugural West Virginia Power club, won the final rose on ABC's The Bachelorette Monday night. The former infielder played in 89 games for West Virginia in 2005, batting .206 with eight home runs and 32 runs batted in. Murray is now engaged to Andi Dorfman.

DESIGNATED TO HIT: At the mid-point of the 2014 season, West Virginia's designated hitters had a collective .189 average over 68 games (43 hits over 227 at bats). Over 39 games since break, Power designated hitters are batting a collective .328 (45 hits over 137 at bats).

POWER PROMO UPDATE- AUGUST 2: The Power battle the Lexington Legends on Saturday, August 2 at Appalachian Power Park on Football Night in Charleston. BirdZerk will perform during the game and the first 1,000 fans through the gates will receive a six-pack cooler sling.

POWER POINTS: Prior to Sunday's game, the Pirates activated infielder Wyatt Mathisen off the Power Disabled List. Pittsburgh transferred infielder Francisco Aponte back to the Jamestown Jammers roster to clear a roster spot...

AROUND THE ORGANIZATION: Pittsburgh scored four in the first and beat San Francisco 5-0... Indianapolis fell 5-4 to Buffalo... Altoona bested Erie 6-3. Josh Bell drove in a pair of runs in the win... Bradenton ouslasted Daytona 9-7. Jose Osuna was 2-4 with three RBIs and Yhonathan Barrios tallied his fourth save with the Marauders... Jamestown's matchup with Hudson Valley was postponed.
