Greenville, SC - Mother Nature ended Thursday night's contest at Fluor Field in the bottom of the sixth inning, and the visiting Rome Braves (15-25, 39-71) came away with a 4-1 victory over the Greenville Drive (10-30, 44-65).
Rome scored a run in the top of the first on a sacrifice fly by Jake Schrader against Trey Ball (1-9). The Drive came back in the bottom of the fourth to tie the game when Wendell Rijo doubled to begin the frame, moved to third on a fielder's choice and scored on a wild pitch.
Ball issued a one-out walk to Anthony Nunez in the fifth, and Connor Lien knocked an RBI double into the left-field corner to give the Braves the lead. They added two more runs against Raynel Velette in the sixth after Schrader's triple to center, Tanner Krietemeier's RBI single, and Nunez's RBI single.
Brandon Barker (4-1) hurled an inning and two-thirds of relief to get the win for Rome.
The teams will meet again on Friday night at Fluor Field at 7:05. RH Jamie Callahan (2-9, 6.52) takes the hill for the Drive, and the Braves will send RH Tyler Brosius (3-7, 4.85) to the mound.
