
Power lose series opener

(Charleston, WV) The West Virginia Power fell in the series opener with the Lexington Legends on Thursday evening at Appalachian Power Park 5-4. Lexington tied the game with a pair in the seventh and then took the advantage in the eighth to pick up the win.
Lexington struck for one run in the first on an RBI single from Elier Hernandez. The Power answered with one in the second behind an Erich Weiss sacrifice fly and then took the lead in the third with another on an Edwin Espinal RBI single.
The Legends tied the game in the fourth before West Virginia responded with another tally on a Francisco Diaz RBI triple. The Power added another in the sixth when Wyatt Mathisen singled home a run.
Lexington, however, would come right back by pushing two across in the seventh with an RBI hit by Mauricio Ramos. The Legends then took the lead for good in the eighth inning when Ramos was hit by a pitch to bring home Dominique Taylor.
Henry Hirsch (2-5) was charged with the loss while Jose Rodriguez (4-1) earned the win and Tim Hill (4) tallied the save. Edwin Espinal went 3-for-4 with an RBI in the Power loss.
