In game one, Michael Fransoso homered in the first inning to get things going while JaCoby Jones, Edwin Espinal and Reese McGuire drove in runs to lead the Power to the win. In game two, it was Greensboro who took the early advantage with two in the first behind an Avery Romero RBI base knock. The Grasshoppers pulled away with three in the sixth. Robby Rowland earned the win in game one and Luis Heredia was charged with the loss in game two.
JUMP ON IT: West Virginia continues its final series with the Grasshoppers. The Power and Grasshoppers have played 137 times since 2005 when both clubs were re-branded and moved to new ballparks. West Virginia holds a 71-66 lead in the all-time set. The Power lead the series at Appalachian Power Park 37-30, despite being swept by the Grasshoppers in early June in Charleston.
WELCOME TO CHARLESTON: The Pittsburgh Pirates activated 2013's first round draft pick (9th overall) Austin Meadows from the Power Disabled List on Saturday. To make room for the outfielder, Elvis Escobar was transferred to the Jamestown Jammers roster. In addition, Barrett Barnes was activated from the Power Disabled List and promoted to Bradenton. Meadows had spent time rehabbing in the GCL as well as with the Bristol Pirates before coming to West Virginia. Baseball America considers Meadows to be the fourth-best prospect in the Pirates organization as well as "Closest to the Majors".
NO FRIENDS OF MINE: Buddy Borden has matched up with Greensboro in three starts in 2014. Borden is 0-3 with a 5.06 ERA against the Grasshoppers over 16 innings pitched and has allowed two home runs. Two of the three starts came at NewBridge Bank Park.

Alen Hanson (2012), Elias Diaz (2011 & 2012), Willy Garcia (2012), Drew Maggi (2011) and Ryan Beckman (2011) were all named All-Stars. The Pirates organization now has had 14 mid-season All-Stars.
