THE LEAD OFF: West Virginia dropped a 2-1 final on Tuesday night at Hickory. The Crawdads scored both their runs off Power starter Joely Rodriguez in the bottom of the fourth inning. West Virginia plated its' only run in the top of the fifth inning. Raul Fortunato doubled and scored on a single by Dilson Herrera. Rodriguez took the loss despite notching his third quality start this season.

TIME FOR 20: West Virginia is now 19-19 after Monday's win and begins play today with a winning record for the first time this season. The current club has the chance to the match the 2011 club as the fastest team to reach 20 wins in a season since West Virginia's affiliation with the Pirates began. The 2012 edition of the Power did not win their 20th game of the season until June 9 in their 62nd game of the season. The 2011 club was 20-19 on May 19 after 39 games while the 2010 version was 20-22 on May 22. The inaugural club did not win their 20th game until game 52 on June 2, 2009 (game 52). The Power will play their 39th game today.

BRING TO A BOIL: The Power close out their only 2013 series at Hickory today. West Virginia leads the all-time set against the Crawdads 47-40. The Crawdads do hold the lead in their own park, having won 24 times in 43 games at L.P. Frans Stadium since 2005. Hickory will visit the Power in Charleston in mid-August for four games.

STREAKING: Dilson Herrera has hit safely in six consecutive game and has multiple hits in each of the last four games during the streak. The infielder is batting .478 over his last six games with two home runs and five runs batted in. This is Herrera's second longest hitting streak this season. He had a seven-game run from April 10-17.

TOUGH LUCK: Orlando Castro will make his eighth start of the year on Wednesday. In his three losses this season, the southpaw has pitched a total of 19 and a third innings, allowing a combined six runs on 16 hits and has an ERA of 2.33 in those losses. Castro has received only two runs of support in those three losses. In his three victories, West Virginia has provided 12 runs of offense with Castro was the pitcher of record.

HIT ME: West Virginia's pitching staff hit three more batters Monday night to extend their league lead. Power pitchers have now plunked 38 batters this season, 35 more than Savannah's league low of three. West Virginia's pitching staff has lead the South Atlantic League in hit batters in three our of the four seasons since the became a Pirates affiliate in 2009 and finished third in 2010.

ALMOST E FREE: The Power led all minor league clubs with 50 errors over 26 games during the month of April, but have fared much better defensively in May. A fourth inning error last night was just the ninth this month over 13 games played. That is the third lowest tally of all SAL teams so far in May. Asheville has committed a league-high 22 errors this month while Rome has only been charged with six.

PROMO UPDATE- MAY 18: The Power will host their annual WVU night on May 18 against Lexington. The first 1,000 fans through the gate will receive a Geno Smith bobblehead. All fans will have the chance to meet and greet Kevin Jones, Truck Bryant, and Da'Sean Butler. WVU Night is present by the WV Army National Guard.

POWER POINTS: Pittsburgh promoted Jake Burnette to the Power roster from Jamestown on Monday and the right-hander made his South Atlantic League debut last night at Hickory. Clay Holmes was placed on the Power Disabled List on Monday with a right ankle injury when Burnette was added to West Virginia's roster... Josh Bell walked in the first inning Tuesday night to extend his on-base streak to 15 games.

AROUND THE ORGANIZATION: Pittsburgh beat Milwaukee 4-3 at PNC Park in 12 innings. Andrew McCutchen hit a walk-off homr un in the 12th for the victory.... Indianapolis knocked off Buffalo 10-4. Tony Sanchez had three hits and drove in three... Altoona edged Trenton 5-3... Bradenton broke a 7-7 tie in the top of the ninth on a solo home run by Alen Hanson for a 8-7 win over Clearwater. It was hanson's first homer this season.
