(WHITAKER BANK BALLPARK, Lexington, Ky.) The Lexington Legends completed a three-game sweep of Kannapolis with a 9-2 victory over the Intimidators Wednesday in front of 7,032 fans on Education Day. With the win, the Legends improved their record to 20-19, moving over the .500 mark for the first time this season.

The Legends are in sixth place in the South Atlantic League Southern Division, but they moved to within three games of first-place Augusta, which will play at home against Rome Wednesday night.

Fred Ford had three hits, including his third home run of the season, and drove in three runs for Lexington. Alex Marquez had three singles and two runs batted in, and Nic Cuckovich contributed two doubles to the Legends' 13-hit attack.

Kannapolis scored first when Michael Johnson led off the fourth inning with a homer. The Intimidators added another run in the fourth on a single by Zach Fisher, a ground-rule double by Tyler Williams and a single by Jean Almanzar.

The Legends tied it in the bottom of the fourth on a single by Michael Antonio and the homer by Ford, a blast over the 401-foot marker in center field.

Lexington took the lead for good with three runs in the sixth inning. Yowill Espinal drew a leadoff walk, went to second on an errant pickoff attempt, to third on a wild pitch, and scored when Fisher, the catcher, threw past third base.

After Adam Lopez relieved starter Euclides Leyer, Ford doubled to center field, sending Arteaga to third, from where he scored on a ground out by Adrian Morales. Marquez singled home Ford to give the Legends a 5-2 lead.

In the seventh inning, a bunt single by Raul Mondesi, a sacrifice by Espinal and a single by Ford made the score 6-2.

The Legends added three more runs in the eighth inning against reliever Storm Throne. Morales walked, stole second and came home on a single by Marquez. Cuckovich doubled, moving Marquez to third base. Terrance Gore followed with a single, scoring Marquez, and Cuckovich later scored on a wild pitch for the final run.

Lexington starter Christian Binford (3-2) worked the first six innings and got the win. Euclides Leyer (2-4) was the starting and losing pitcher for Kannapolis.
