Vasquez: Surrendered 5 R on 7 H over 4.0 IP with 2 K and 2 BB in 5/07 ND vs. SAV (9-6 Sand Gnats)

THE LEAD OFF: West Virginia knocked off Lexington 6-2 on Sunday afternoon. Tyler Glasnow allowed one run on one hit over five innings of work, striking out nine Legends along the way in the victory. West Virginia scored runs in the first, third, fourth, and fifth innings to back Glasnow. Dilson Herrera hit his third home run of the season and second this series, a two-run shot in the seventh, to cap the Power offense. Stetson Allie also drove in a pair while Josh Bell and D. J. Crumlich added two hits apiece to help the Power split the series at two wins each.

BURNETTE PROMOTED: Pittsburgh has promoted Jake Burnette to the Power roster from Jamestown and he will make his South Atlantic League debut tonight at Hickory. The right-hander was selected in the seventh round of the 2011 draft by the Pirates from Buford High School in Georgia, pitched in the GCL that summer, and started five games for State College last season. Burnette went 1-2 with the Spikes with a 4.71 earned run average, allowing 11 runs on 22 hits over 21 innings pitched while striking out eight and walking six.

GETTING ABOVE EVEN: West Virginia enters play tonight with an even 18-18 record. The Power have only been at a .500 mark once other time since the season began, having held a 16-16 record prior to the Lexington series. At no point this year has the club had a winning record.

BRING TO A BOIL: The Power open their only series at Hickory this season tonight. West Virginia leads the all-time series against the Crawdads 46-39, though Hickory took seven our of eight games in 2012, including a four-game series sweep in North Carolina in late May to early June. The Crawdads do hold the lead in their own park, having won 23 times in 41 games at L.P. Frans Stadium since 2005.

HISTORY REPEATED: Power manager Michael Ryan was ejected twice on Saturday. West Virginia's skipper was ejected by umpire Travis Godec in the sixth inning of game one after arguing two calls. Pitching coach Jeff Johnson was also ejected at the end of game one. When the managers exchanged lineup cards prior to game two, Ryan continued his argument and was again tossed by Godec. The last six ejections involving a Power player or staff member have occurred in Lexington. Kirk Singer was the last West Virginia player to be tossed, June 13, 2012, the day after former manager Rick Sofield's first of two ejections in Lexington. Sofield was also ejected there on August 11.

HOLMES DL'D: Pittsburgh placed pitcher Clay Holmes on the Power Disabled List earlier today with a right ankle injury when Jake Burnette was added to West Virginia's roster. The move was made retroactive to May 9 and Holmes will be eligible to be activated on May 16.

AT HOME ON THE ROAD: West Virginia is batting .278 away from Appalachian Power Park this season, compared to .253 at home. The club has hit 17 of its' 28 home runs on the road and average 5.6 runs per game on the road compared to 4.8 at home.

PROMO UPDATE- MAY 18: The Power will host their annual WVU night on May 18 against Lexington. The first 1,000 fans through the gate will receive a Geno Smith bobblehead. All fans will have the chance to meet and greet Kevin Jones, Truck Bryant, and Da'Sean Butler. WVU Night is present by the WV Army National Guard.

POWER POINTS: West Virginia used Jason Creasy in a spot start Saturday evening, marking the first time this season that someone outside the original rotation at Opening Day Started a game... Tyler Glasnow struck out 19 batters last week over 10 innings of work. The right-hander now has 42 strikeouts over 30 total innings this season. Saturday's doubleheader crowd of 6,860 was the largest that West Virginia has played in front of this season.

AROUND THE ORGANIZATION: Pittsburgh held off the New York Mets 3-2 Sunday to win the series.... Indianapolis beat Toledo 8-2... Altoona edged Richmond 2-1 in walk-off fashion. Andrew Lambo scored the winning run on an error... Bradenton was idle Sunday and opens a series at Clearwater tonight.
