TONIGHT'S MATCH-UP

LHP Stephen Tarpley (2-0, 0.90) vs. RHP Chad Sobotka (1-2, 3.63)

Tarpley: Allowed two unearned runs on seven hits over 5.0 IP with BB and 6 K in 5/30 W @ DEL (9-4 Power)

Sobotka: Tossed 4.0 shutout and hitless IP with 2 BB and K in no-decision on 5/30-1 @ HIC (4-1 Crawdads)

THE LEAD OFF: West Virginia took the rubber game against the Greensboro Grasshoppers with a 3-0 victory on Wednesday afternoon at Appalachian Power Park. Yeudy Garcia continued to dominate on the mound with five innings of one-hit ball while he received support offensively from a two-run double in the fourth inning by Chase Simpson and an RBI double from Michael Suchy in the sixth. Jose Regalado surrendered one hit over three innings to register the hold while Junior Lopez worked a scoreless ninth for his fourth save this season.

WHEN IN ROME...: The Power and Braves will meet for the first and only time this season for a four-game set beginning tonight. Last year, the two clubs played 11 games with the Power winning the season series 7-4. The Power are 21-18 all-time against Atlanta's Class-A affiliate and haven't lost a season series to the Braves since 2009. Tonight, West Virginia will send Stephen Tarpley to the mound in his third game as a member of the Pirates organization. Tarpley has only surrendered one earned run over ten innings.

DESTINY IN OUR HANDS: West Virginia has 17 games remaining in the first half and are currently 2.5 games behind the Hickory Crawdads for first place in the division. If West Virginia wins all of the remaining games this half they will guarantee a postseason berth for the first time since 2013. The Power and Crawdads will meet for a three-game series at Appalachian Power Park to conclude the first half.

SELFLESSNESS: Sacrifice bunts have been a key part of West Virginia's offense through the first 53 games of the season. The Power have laid down 40 total sacrifice bunts this season, the most in professional baseball. The 2015 Power are on pace to register 106 sacrifice bunts this year. The 40 sac bunts are also the most in the Pirates minor league system. Pablo Reyes leads the team with seven sacrifice bunts while Cole Tucker and Tito Polo each have six.

NEW LEADER: After a three-hit day on Saturday, Elvis Escobar took over Chase Simpson's title as the teams best hitter for average. The outfielder is currently hitting .292 this year after a 1-for-2 game on Tuesday night. During May, Escobar hit .296, the best mark among any qualifying Power hitter during the month.

FEELIN' HOT, HOT, HOT: In the last ten games, West Virginia holds an 7-3 record, tied for the best in the South Atlantic League with Kannapolis and Savannah. In the last ten games, the club has a team .254 average whille the pitching staff holds a 2.80 ERA.

BREWED TO PERFECTION: Colten Brewer put up the best start of his career in Monday's victory, striking out 11 batters over six shutout innings to earn his first win of the year. Previously, Brewer's career-high for strikeouts in a game was four which he has done multiple times in his career.

POWER PROMO UPDATE- JUNE 13: The Power will be celebrating Chuck's Birthday with a headphone giveaway to the first 1,000 fans presented by 98.7 The Beat and Renaissance Dental. Additionally, the popular national act ZOOperstars will entertain the fans throughout the 7:05 p.m. game against Augusta.

POWER POINTS: West Virginia is 14-13 when playing on the road in 2015...Monday's two-hitter was the second time the Power pitchers have thrown a two-hitter this year (May 18 in Hickory)...Colten Brewer and John Sever's 18 combined strikeouts on Monday was the most in a nine-inning game in franchise history...Michael Suchy has had a multi-hit game in five consecutive games...Tyler Filliben has reached base in 17 consecutive games...

AROUND THE ORGANIZATION: Pittsburgh completed a sweep of San Diego with a 5-2 victory which featured a three-run ninth inning...Clayton Richard tossed 7.2 innings of shutout baseball in Indianapolis' 3-0 victory over Buffalo...Willy Garcia clubbed two home runs as part of a three-hit day and Matt Benedict was solid over six innings in Altoona's 6-1 win over New Britain...Reese McGuire hit a bases-clearing double as part of a five-run first in Bradenton's 5-4 win against St. Lucie.
