Rome, GA - The West Virginia Power edged the Rome Braves Thursday night at State Mutual Stadium 6-5 before 2,408 fans.

The Power scored a run in the fourth inning to take a 1-0 lead on a two out RBI single by Taylor Gushue. They added two more in the fifth on Cole Tucker's two run home run for the 3-0 advantage before Rome crossed the plate twice in the bottom of the inning. Justin Black had a sacrifice fly RBI and Tanner Murphy scored on a wild pitch making it a 3-2 game. In the top of the sixth Gushue tripled home a run and later scored on a sacrifice fly by Tito Polo giving the Power a 5-2 lead. The Braves bounced right back with two runs in the bottom of the frame on a sacrifice fly by Murphy and a bases loaded walk to score the second run for the 5-4 score. The Power answered in the top of the seventh on Jordan Luplow's run scoring double giving West Virginia a two run lead 6-4. Rome made it a 6-5 game in the eighth on a two out RBI single by Tanner Krietemeier but the Power bullpen shut down Rome in the ninth to preserve the victory.

Stephen Tarpley (3-0) picks up the victory for Lexington and Rome's Chad Sobotka (1-3) takes the loss. Nick Neumann (8) earns the save.
