Las Vegas Wranglers News Release

Las Vegas, NV - The Las Vegas Wranglers® have agreed to an affiliation with the Phoenix Coyotes of the National Hockey League and the San Antonio Rampage of the American Hockey League for the 2009-10 season.

This will be the first season that Phoenix and Las Vegas will be affiliated. The new affiliation joins the addition of former NHL star Keith Primeau as Director of Player Development, as early moves by first-year General Manager / Head Coach Ryan Mougenel.

"Phoenix is an organization that believes in player development and that is a big part of our philosophy in Las Vegas," Mougenel said. "I am extremely excited to be associated with an organization that is committed to its players and committed to getting them to the next level."

The Phoenix Coyotes have been a part of the NHL since 1996, when the team moved from Winnipeg. The former Jets made the playoffs in their first four seasons. Currently, the Coyotes are led by Head Coach Wayne Gretzky. Gretzky, who holds nearly every scoring record in the NHL, has been coaching the Coyotes for the past four seasons and is 143-161-24.

Las Vegas will also be the affiliate of the American Hockey League's San Antonio Rampage. The Rampage, founded in 2002, finished eighth last year in the West Division. Forward David Spina led the Rampage last season with 54 points in 63 games.

For the previous six seasons, the Wranglers had been the ECHL affiliate of the NHL's Calgary Flames.

The Wranglers open the 2009-10 season at home on Friday, October 16, 2009 at 7:05 PM against Utah. 2009-10 season seat packages are on sale now at (702) 471-PUCK. The Wranglers play all 36 regular season home games at the Orleans Arena, located at the Orleans Hotel and Casino at 4500 W. Tropicana Avenue.
