Las Vegas Wranglers News Release
Las Vegas - The Las Vegas Wranglers won 4-2 over the Bakersfield Condors tonight, kicking off a four-game home stretch in front of 3,374 fans.
Bakersfield took an early lead midway through the first on a power play goal from forward Peter Boyd. Condors forward Brett Perlini scored less than seven minutes later, and the Wranglers were put in a 2-0 hole after the opening 20 minutes. Almost six minutes into the second, Wranglers defenseman Jamie Fritsch put the team on the board to cut the Condors lead in half. The 2-1 score carried over into the third as Wranglers goaltender Joe Fallon and Condors goaltender Brian Stewart stopped everything they faced.
At the 12:35 mark of the final period, Wranglers defenseman Charlie Cook snapped a shot in from the blue line to tie the game 2-2, and in his first home game with the Wranglers since 2011-12, left wing Robbie Smith netted his first goal of the season to give Las Vegas their first lead of the night. Bakersfield took a 6-on-4 man advantage in the final 1:48 of the game on a power play opportunity with a pulled goaltender, but Wranglers defenseman Mike Madill sailed an empty net goal home across the full length of the ice for a 4-2 victory. Las Vegas outshot Bakersfield 41-25, with Fallon saving 23 shots.
The Wranglers host alt-country legend Todd Snider for a post-game concert on Friday, Feb.1, after the team starts a two-game series against the Alaska Aces. Saturday, Feb. 2, is "Heroes Night," featuring Iron Man live on the concourse and a Las Vegas police vs. firefighter "Guns and Hoses" contest before the game, and "Over 18 Night" with the world's first topless pro hockey team is Monday, Feb. 4, at 9:05 p.m.
Celebrating 10 seasons of Wranglers hockey this year, group events are available at all home games, including pre-game ice skating parties, private luxury suites, and rink-side catered party boxes. Groups of ten or more can sit together starting at $13 per ticket, and feature perks such as in-game group recognition and "buy one, get one free" Chuck-A-Puck vouchers. Take advantage of the best deals by calling the Wranglers front office at (702) 471-PUCK .
